CHAD

Effective in 2013 the Chad Shippers Council requires all sea cargo arriving in Chad must be covered by a Cargo Tracking Note (CTN) or Electronic Cargo Tracking Note (ECTN). Some shipping lines may not load cargo without the CTN number. Cargo arriving without a Cargo Tracking Note may be subject of fines and delays.

Cargo Tracking Notes will not be issued at discharge port.

Procedure:

  • Submit the required documents by email or online submission.
  • You will be sent a draft and an invoice, typically within the same day, and a draft will follow.
  • Once your payment has been received and you approve the draft, validation will be sent.

Timeline:

Once we receive this information, we will issue a draft ECTN and an invoice for fees. After all documents are received, please allow 24 hours for a draft to be released for approval. Once payment is received and draft is approved, please allow up to 48 hours for validation to be released.

Below are the required documents for this certificate:

– Bill of Lading
– Commercial Invoice
– Freight Invoice (required if the freight amount is not specified on commercial invoice)

CIRCULARS

4.1.2013 — Commercial International Services will be authorized to issue CTN’s for all cargo destined for the country of Chad. As per Decree No. 04/PR/PM/MTAC/2013 dated January 3rd, 2013 and the interimimisterial Order No. 145/MTAC/SGG/2013 Under Minister of Infrastructure, Transport and Civil Aviation decree No.247/MIT/DC/2014 decrees that each shipment with the destination of the Republic of Chad needs to be covered by an ECTN. and… “every bill of lading and ship’s manifest must contain the corresponding ECTN number issued at the port of loading. Any Shipping Line not observing the above mentioned regulations risks to pay the stipulated fines amounting to 100% of the value mentioned on the ECTN, payable at the transit port”.
