Required Documents for DR Congo FERI

To obtain the DR Congo FERI Certificate you will need the BL, commercial invoice, freight invoice, FXI number and shipper ‘s subscription number. AfricaCTN can provide more information on these document requirements.

List of Required Documents

Bill of Lading

The BL is the core document for all ECTN required countries. It contains shipment specific information such as:

  • Shipper and Consignee name and address
  • Notify party information
  • Port of loading and discharge
  • Container numbers and seal numbers
  • Gross weight and volume
  • Cargo description
  • Packaging details

It is important that all supporting documentation matches the BL to prevent any ECTN validation issues.

Commercial Invoice

The commercial invoice shows the value of the goods, information about the buyer and seller and other key details such as:

  • Invoice number and date
  • Currency
  • Quantity sold
  • Payment terms

Freight Invoice

The freight invoice is issued by the carrier or freight forwarder and will show the incoterm, cost of ocean freight and any other supplemental costs related to the movement of the cargo.

FXI Number

The FXI number is issued to the consignee or imported in DR Congo when they file for their import license. It is required to validated the FERI Certificate.

Shipper’s Subscription Number

The Shipper Subscription Number is a yearly code linked to a Shipper Subscription Card. Importers must:

  • Apply at an OGEFREM office, in the DRC or abroad.
  • Renew every year, valid from January 1 until December 31.
  • Share the number with AfricaCTN when filing FERI certificate requests.

Why are These Documents Required?

These documents provide essential details for customs clearance and ensuring compliance with DR Congo’s import regulations. They help speed up clearance at the destination port and prevent delays.

Common Document Errors

Most commonly with DR Congo FERI certificates, AfricaCTN see’s that shippers do not have access to the FXI number or shipper subscription number. Since this information comes from the consignee and can take some time to obtain, it is important that you get with your consignee early on to ensure all the proper documentation is ready to apply for the FERI.

Summary

The required documents to get a DR Congo FERI Certificate with AfricaCTN are the BL, commercial invoice, freight invoice, FXI number and the shipper’s subscription number. Submitting complete and accurate documents is critical for quick validation and avoiding costly delays.
