What is the Ivory Coast BSC?

The BSC (Bordereau de Suivi des Cargaisons) is a mandatory shipping document for all shipments imported into the destination country of Ivory Coast. It allows customs to track cargo before it arrives, confirm what is being imported into the country, and obtain more valuable information about the shipment. This document is required to prevent delays at the destination port.

How long will it take to get my certificate?

Who needs a Ivory Coast BSC certificate?

What happens if I don't get the CTN?

If your shipment arrives in Ivory Coast without a valid Ivory Coast BSC (Electronic Cargo Tracking Note), it will not be cleared by customs. The cargo may be held at the port until a valid CTN is issued, leading to significant clearance delays, demurrage and storage fees charged by the port, or possible fines or penalties from the customs authorities. In some cases, your cargo could even be refused entry or returned to the country of origin.

When should I apply for my cargo tracking note?

Shipments without a validated CTN may face penalties and delays at port. To avoid this, please apply at least 3-5 business days before the vessel’s estimated arrival date.

If I have multiple shipments, can I use the same BSC for all of them?

No. Each shipment must have its own unique BSC (Cargo Tracking Note) number.

A BSC is tied to the specific Bill of Lading, vessel, and cargo details for one shipment only.

If you’re shipping multiple containers under different Bills of Lading, you’ll need to apply for a separate BSC certificate for each. However, if multiple containers share one Bill of Lading and are part of a single shipment, only one BSC is required.
