Bill of Lading

What It Is:

A document issued by the carrier or shipping line, confirming the shipment details and voyage information.

  • Description of goods

Important Notes:

  • Draft bill of lading is acceptable

Commercial Invoice

What It Is:

A document showing the value of the goods being shipped.

What We Need From It:

  • Goods value
  • Currency
  • Incoterm

Important Notes:

  • Must match the goods mentioned on the bill of lading

Freight Invoice

What It Is:

A document showing the cost of the ocean freight.

What We Need From It:

  • Freight value

Important Notes:

  • Not required if the freight value is listed on the commercial invoice

Export Declaration

What It Is:

An official document obtained from the government in the country of origin.

What We Need From It:

  • Customs value
  • Reference number

Important Notes:

  • Required for all countries of origin

Packing List

What It Is:

A detailed shipping document listing the weight, dimensions and packing details of a shipment.

What We Need From It:

  • Weight
  • Dimensions
  • Packing details
  • Reference number

Important Notes:

  • Information must match what is mentioned on the commercial invoice

Certificate of Insurance

What It Is:

Proof of insurance coverage on the shipment.

What We Need From It:

  • Insurance value
  • Reference number

Important Notes:

  • All shipments are required to have a certificate of insurance

Certificate of Origin

What It Is:

A document certifying that goods were wholly obtained, produced and manufactured in a specific country.

What We Need From It:

  • Reference number

FDI Import License

What It Is:

The official import license for Ivory Coast

What We Need From It:

  • Reference number
  • Goods value

Important Notes:

  • The consignee is responsible for obtaining the import license
